I-5 North County Enhancements Projects
Client| Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro)
2022 - Present | $600 Million
The I-5 North Capacity Enhancements Project focuses on improvements to the I-5 freeway. The improvements include the addition of HOV (carpool) lanes along the median, extension of northbound truck lane and addition of auxiliary lanes. Based on the outcome of the remaining sound studies, additional soundwalls may be constructed.
Scope of ZTC work in the project ranges from preparation of project Source Inspection Quality Management Plan (SIQMP) for Caltrans Oversight SMR, implementing the SIQMP along with SIQMP monthly reports, reviewing fabricators quality control plans, performing material engineering and quality assessment of fabrication. ZTC is also coordinating and managing source fabrication items such as overhead sign structures, PTFE bearings, bearing plates, precast girders, soil nails, couplers, headed bars, Epoxy Coated Bars, Drainage Inlets, and more. ZTC staff are always on call. ZTC is working closely with CM and Metro to develop the project SIQMP, monitor material control cycle, and notify Prime and Contractor of QA requirements in advance of material procurement to ensure unnecessary delays do not occur.
