McKinley Street Grade Separation
Client| City of Corona
2022 - Present | $105 Million
The objective of the project is to improve safety, provide unhindered access for emergency vehicles, reduce traffic congestion, and reduce air pollution by grade-separating the crossing. The flood control channel (Arlington Channel) is owned by Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (RCFC&WCD) and runs adjacent to and parallel with the BNSF Railway and Sampson Avenue. Connectivity between McKinley Street and Sampson Avenue, which will remain at-grade, will be maintained via a connector road in the northeast quadrant of the project and a side ramp connector from McKinley Street to Sampson Avenue.
Scope of ZTC work have successfully executed the McKinley Grade Separation Scope of Services as the subconsultant, ZT Consulting Group, Inc. (ZTC), ensuring comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) and Source Inspection in line with the City of Corona, Caltrans, Railroad, and Federal guidelines. A detailed Source Inspection Quality Management Plan (SIQMP) was approved by the city, under which we deployed specialized inspectors, including Certified Weld Inspectors (CWI) and NACE Certified Coating Inspectors, among others, to perform rigorous evaluations of all structural materials, from steel bridge components to precast MSE wall panels. Our Structural Material Representative (SMR) and PE Engineer coordinated closely with project RE and SR, attending weekly meetings, reviewing submittals, and addressing fabrication challenges promptly to avoid delays. All QA inspection records have been meticulously documented, fulfilling deliverables such as Project SIQMP, Monthly Reports, Submittal Reviews, and QA Source Inspection Reports. A final certification in line with the approved SIQMP and a project close-out letter have been submitted, marking the successful completion of the project.
